Community

We are very grateful we can live as well as raise and educate our children in such a wonderful country as Canada. We consider ourselves to be part of this great environment and truly believe the future and destiny of each society depends and belong to a new generation ' today's children.

Our school is very proud to participate in the development and education of this new generation. We are doing our best to guide our children towards a promising future. Our ultimate effort is to prepare them to face and master the challenging tasks of life.

However, we are aware that there are still children less fortunate and living in an environment that does not provide them health, equality, education and protection. The children are the most vulnerable part of society and the governments have a special obligation to ensure that their needs are met.

In order to set up a guideline, the basic children's human rights have been defined by The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history.

As stated in the convention, children everywhere have:

  • the right to survival
  • the right to develop to the fullest
  • the right to protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation
  • the right to participate fully in family, cultural and social life

Unfortunately, the children's rights are frequently violated by the governments, in the community and in the family. Therefore, we proudly support Unicef's Global Parent to help children all over the world and provide them with ongoing medicine, food and shelter, where needed.

Environment

We strive to make a difference in our community with program to recycle, reduce waste and conserve resources as well as to create an eco-friendly environment for our children. We believe that besides the lasting benefits of environmentally responsible behavior, a green attitude will help us to provide healthier surroundings for our children and staff.

Young children may not be able to fully understand why they should be concerned with our environment, but they are sensitive enough to develop their own environmentally friendly habits.

Together with simple ecology lessons, we recycle throughout the day and the children both observe and participate in these daily routines. We introduced recycling boxes into each classroom, as part of our action plan for waste minimization and we recycle whenever possible. Kids know that the different bins are for paper, plastic, glass etc. It takes a little extra effort but together we can make a difference. It is a great opportunity to educate our children about environment, recycling and how they are helping to sustain our nature ' the Mother Earth.

We believe preschool children are at an ideal age to start learning about environmental issues and as a school we have a very good opportunity to influence the children and make environmental awareness their natural way of thinking. Schools and daycares play an important role in cultivating a sense of caring and respect for the environment in young children, while laying the foundation for developing future responsible citizens.

Participating in hands-on environmental activities and observing caregivers' appropriate behavior, kids are acquiring the basic knowledge, skills and values that promote environmental responsibility.

This behavior will become familiar to your children and could be continued at home.

Also on our way we proudly support Green Shift Inc. and buying all our kitchen consumables as cups, plates and cutlery etc. from them, because they are non-toxic and biodegradable as well as compostable.

Let's all work together to minimize the amount of waste and reduce our impact on environment!
